The Natural Truffle is based in Dorset and specialises in harvesting seasonal fresh, local natural truffles. Since 2017, Dany and his truffle hound have been locating ideal sites for the search, location and retrieval of extraordinary English truffles. Many of these truffles are in high demand and are snapped up and sold to high-end restaurants, connoisseurs and truffle aficionados. There was burgeoning truffle hunting throughout the region in centuries past, but this fell into decline around the 1920s. During the last decade or so, interest in the activity has increased. Listening to comments from our clients, they expressed an interest in spending a day out looking for and finding their favourite food, the truffle. We have successfully organised this as the “The Natural Truffle Day Out Experience” since 2018/2019 with great success; however, like most things, the hospitality events took a battering last year in 2020.
ALL, however, is not lost. Forget the bad news the “Natural Truffle and his truffle hound” are back for the 2021 season!
What to expect:
The Natural Truffle accommodates groups of up to 8 during selected days of the month in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire. All guests will enjoy the morning at a local site searching through wooded copses that have been specially chosen for their ability to produce truffles. The Truffle Man with his truffle hound your friend, host and guide shows how to find the prized possession, then how to retrieve it from the ground complete. Finally, when everyone arrives at the restaurant, the group are shown how to clean the truffle.
Everyone in the group can then unwind and relax because the taste buds are then introduced to an exquisite four-course meal with drinks. A selection of sumptuous foods containing the truffle which talented and highly rated local chefs prepare!
You even receive a memento of the day from taking away with you. This experience best reflects why a truffle is more valuable than gold on a weight for weight basis! Due to limited availability, it is best to book up as soon as space becomes available to avoid disappointment. Ideal for that special occasion when quality is enjoyed and matters!
